The 248 F1 closed the most dominant partnership the sport has known. Its name spelled out a new era, 2.4 litres and eight cylinders after the V10s were legislated away, and Schumacher drove it to seven wins in 2006 before announcing his retirement at Monza. He lost the title by thirteen points and walked away as the most decorated driver Maranello has ever had.
